Sandip Kuriakose graduated with an M.V.A. in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, India, and a B.F.A. in painting from the College of Art, New Delhi. Kuriakose’s group shows include FotoFest International 2018 Biennial Central Exhibition INDIA /Contemporary Photographic and New Media Art, Houston (2018); Where is Queer? When is Queer? What is Queer?, Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi (2015); 6th European Month of Photography, Das Foto Image Factory, Berlin (2014); Art For Young Collectors, Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai (2014); United Art Fair, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi (2013); and Photographing the Metropolitan (with Verena Jaekel), Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi (2011), among others. The central focus of his work has been the examination of power (structures)—both legal and social—in conjunction with ideas of masculinity, gender, and sexual identity.
