Mary Ellen Bartley is an American artist known for her photographs exploring the tactile and formal qualities of the printed book and its potential for abstraction. Her work has been widely exhibited in both group and solo presentations, including at the Queens Museum, New York; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Houston Center for Photography, Texas; the Parrish Art Museum, Southampton, New York; and The Watermill Center, Water Mill, New York. Her series Standing Open was exhibited in Discoveries of the Meeting Place during the FotoFest 2016 Biennial, Houston. Bartley’s work is represented by Yancey Richardson in New York.
