Olga Tobreluts is a digital artist working across multiple disciplines including photography, video, painting, and sculpture. Born in Murino, Russia, she now maintains studios in St. Petersburg; Berlin, Germany; and San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy. An active and influential member of the St. Petersburg art scene since 1994, Tobreluts is credited with pioneering the digital art movement in Russia and is associated with the Neo-Academism movement.
Tobreluts’s work has been exhibited in museums worldwide, including a notable five-floor retrospective titled The New Mythology at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Russia (2013). Her images have been featured in numerous international publications, including W magazine, Flash Art, Vogue Paris, and Vanity Fair, as well as in the books Emperor and Galilean: Olga Tobreluts (Oslo: Henrik Ibsen Foundation, 2003) and Olga Tobreluts: Digitalized Academism (Antwerp: Pandora, 1999). Tobreluts’s work was exhibited in the 2012 FotoFest Biennial exhibition Contemporary Russian Photography, at Deborah Colton Gallery, Houston, and is part of both corporate and museum collections.
