Seattle-based photographer Daniel Beltrá was born in Madrid, Spain. Over the past two decades, his work has taken him to all seven continents, including several expeditions to the Brazilian Amazon, the Arctic, the Southern Ocean, and the Patagonian Ice Fields. For his work on the Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico oil spill, he received a 2011 Wildlife Photographer of the Year award in the Wildlife Photojournalist category, as well as the 2011 Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year award in the International Photography Awards competition. Beltrá has had solo exhibitions of his work throughout the United States and Europe. Other career highlights include a 2013 BBVA Foundation Award for Biodiversity Conservation, the 2009 Prince’s Rainforest Project award at the Sony World Photography Awards, and awards for his work in the Amazon from World Press Photo in 2006 and 2007. Beltrá’s work has been published in the New Yorker, TIME, National Geographic, Newsweek, the New York Times, Le Monde, the Guardian, GEO, and El Pais, among many others.
